Abstract

Abstract. The epithet is of great importance in fiction. Epithets are considered the mainstay of a literary work when describing the phenomenon of life. Researcher K. Zhumaliev in his work "Theory of Literature" notes that an epithet is an artistic tool used to identify individual, specific properties of a person, natural phenomena or an object, to influence thought and imagination. At the same time, the writer shows that he does not just use an epithet, he pursues a specific goal, and the epithets used in this way reflect his attitude to what is depicted. At the same time, we must emphasize that the epithets in the work vary depending on their meaning. Researchers A. Baitursynuly, K. Zhumaliev, Z. Akhmetov, Z. Kabdolov, R. Syzdyk, K. Morialiev, G. Mukhanbetkalieva, who were the first to speak about the epithet, determined that the epithet in a work of fiction becomes the basis of the work through the author's use. So, epithets in our language distinguish between stable and free. Yaki is also defined as poetic and linguistic. At the same time, epithets are distinguished by the way they are divided into substantive and adjectival. While substantive epithets consist of noun words, adjectival epithets consist of relative, qualitative adjectives. The high role of epithets as the main means of literature in the formation of word usage, in the representation of the world of heroes. Based on this, in addition to the epithets that have developed in the Kazakh language, the function of epithets in the works of R. was differentiated. Otarbaya, which were used as part of the author's use and performed the main function in creating a positive and negative image, portrait, details.
